Some Notes on Mary Cassatt
Mary Cassatt was born in Pittsburgh in 1845.
Her father was the mayor of Old Allegheny. The family moved to Paris in
1850. She studied with Degas and Monet and became an impressionist. She died in June 1926. She was most famous for her mother and daughter portraits. Mary is my fifth cousin, three times removed and we both go to Jacques and Lydia Cossart. Their son, Anthony, is my ancestor and their other son, David, is Mary's.
This is a portrait done by her very good friend, Degas.
this is a photo of Mary in her later years
